Released in 2013 on Epitaph Records, True North is BAD RELIGION's sixteenth studio album. Following the more varied and sometimes restrained The Dissent Of Man, the band returns to what they do best: short, fast and incisive songs, irresistible melodies and those trademark vocal harmonies that have always been such an essential part of their sound.
From the opening title track « True North », the message is clear: less than two minutes and not a second wasted. « Past Is Dead » immediately keeps the momentum going, followed by the excellent « Robin Hood In Reverse » and its incredibly effective chorus. « Land Of Endless Greed », « Fuck You » and « Vanity » push the accelerator even harder, occasionally recalling the urgency of the band's classic records.
But True North isn't simply a race to the finish line. « Hello Cruel World », « Dept. Of False Hope », « Popular Consensus » and « My Head Is Full Of Ghosts » showcase everything that makes BAD RELIGION so distinctive: sharp social commentary, cutting guitars, Greg Graffin's instantly recognizable voice and choruses that stick in your head after the very first listen.
With 16 songs packed into just over 35 minutes, True North gets straight to the point. More than thirty years into their career, BAD RELIGION prove that they are still capable of delivering fast, intelligent and incredibly effective melodic punk rock. A genuine return to their roots and undoubtedly one of the strongest albums of the band's modern era.
