US HARDCORE / THRASHCORE • BOSTON, USA
REVIEW
Back to the roots of American hardcore with JERRY'S KIDS, one of the most legendary bands to emerge from the Boston scene! Formed in 1981, the band belonged to the first wave of groups pushing punk rock towards faster, louder and more extreme territory. These "This Is Boston Not L.A. Sessions" capture the raw fury of the band's earliest recordings, dating back to the legendary "This Is Boston, Not L.A." compilation released in 1982 on Modern Method Records.
From "Straight Jacket" and "Uncontrollable", it's immediately clear what you're dealing with: breakneck drumming, razor-sharp guitars, pounding bass and completely unhinged vocals. Tracks such as "Wired", "Desperate", "Pressure" and "I Don't Wanna" are pure adrenaline blasts, often clocking in at less than two minutes. No pointless guitar solos, no melodic interludes to soften the attack: just primitive, furious hardcore played at maximum speed. A sense of urgency that perfectly captures the spirit of the early 1980s Boston hardcore scene.
Alongside SSD, NEGATIVE FX, GANG GREEN and THE F.U.'S, JERRY'S KIDS helped define the uncompromising and aggressive sound of Boston hardcore. These sessions offer a chance to experience the band at their rawest, before their essential 1983 album "Is This My World?". No unnecessary polish, just relentless energy and an intensity that hasn't lost any of its impact. An essential document of Boston hardcore history and a masterclass in speed! Absolutely indispensable for fans of first-generation American hardcore punk.
